I am still reading the book called lock and key by Sarah Dessen. There is more that I have discovered about the relationship ruby and her sister Cora have. And I think you'll find this interesting to read.
Now as it gets further into the school year Ruby is becoming more accustomed to living in Cora's house. And she's actually enjoying the carpool rides that she has to take with Nate "the most popular boy in her school", but she is still back to her old ways not trying to make any friends.
Between Ruby and Cora, Ruby was able to communicate more with Cora. Ruby found out a lot more about her sister and she discovered that her sister was actually a really social person. She also found out that Cora is trying to have a baby with her husband Jamie.
Later on in the book is where all of the secrets were unlocked about Ruby's life. Cora tries her best to explain to Ruby that she was always trying to look for her while she was in college so that she could bring Ruby with her and live together. Cora never wanted to leave Ruby alone with their mother because their mother has been a wreck ever since their parents have gotten seperated. But Ruby didn't believe Cora when she was telling her all of this because their mom had told Ruby that Cora had no loner wanted anything to do with them. When Ruby first moved in with Cora she was unaware that Cora had even gotten married. But yet Cora personally handed an invitation to her mom saying that Ruby had a choice of whether or not she wanted to come to the wedding.
Ruby found out that everything Cora had to say was true. Ruby began to really think about what her sister said because ever since her sister left the house her mother would say," it's just me and you baby, just me and you." And prier to that when Cora left, she was about 18. Since Ruby wanted to leave as soon as she turned 17, she figured that her mom might as well leave her first before her last daughter walks out on her. That's why Ruby thinks that her mom disappeared.
In my opinion I believe that Even though it hurt Cora to express the truth to Ruby it had to be said. Ruby had had hate for Cora for the longest because she thought that Cora abandoned her. So in the book the author continues to throw more things at Ruby for her to deal with. But maybe this was a good thing for Ruby to find out the hard way e cause then she can have more o a reason to stay with Cora and let the bond between them build. So that Ruby can forget about her mom leaving et and start a new life. So I will keep reading.
